To say that I'm "glad" this is Friday would be a SEVERE understatement! IT IS FRIDAY!!!!! YEAH!!!!!!!!
I have had a pretty long day today. Our receptionist is gone, our fill-in receptionist has laryngitis, so I am answering the phones today and also trying to get caught up from being off yesterday with Avery. I did get a few things done while I was off, but there were more piles waiting for me this morning.
I do have exciting news though! In just a short 220 days, I will be lounging in the ocean aboard this baby....
The Carnival INSPIRATION!
We are going on another family cruise. Our family, along with Missy and Ryan and Mary and Grandma Huffman will fly to Tampa in early September and I CANNOT WAIT! So, as I watch the Superbowl this weekend live from Tampa, I will be thinking of how soon I will be going to that great city in search of a little "Inspiration" :)

Get me outta here!
My baby is sick, my hubby is sick...and I'm going to the BAR!
Yes you read that right.
I stayed home with Avery today. We headed to the doctor first thing this morning. We then headed to walmart to fill a couple of prescriptions and have been home since (with a brief stop at Moms to pick up cookies that she made for the Brazilton crew for always being good to let me be off with Avery when she is sick. WE went to Brazilton and I picked up some work too.
Our afternoon was pretty eventful as Avery would not go to sleep and I kept trying to get things done for work. She FINALLY went to sleep around 3:30 and it is now 7:17 and she's still out. I'm hoping she sleeps all night.
Actually, JoeDel is in bed too (has been since 4:30). I'm planning on leaving my sick crew and going to have a drink with my friend Amy. This mom needs a BREAK.
Here's a pic of me and the sugar today.

Why I voted no....
Well it appears the Girard School bond issue did not pass.
I voted no and I feel that now I will tell the world why. I hope that no one will judge me for my decision just as I am not about to judge those that were in favor of it.
I support education, I love my child and I want her to have the best education possible. With that said, I was 100% for the additions to Haderlein. I think they need a new library, I think they need a new cafeteria and I most definately think they need all-day kindergarten. These things would benefit all students that attend that school.
With that said, I will continue on as to why I did not support the issue.
The changes at the high school were 80% athletic related. There was to be a new art room, a commons area and then a "community" center and more "athletic" related facets. Not all students are athletes, but all students do benefit from classroom improvements and I would have been all for that.
I just feel that those who proposed the bond KNEW that the only chance of the community center and all of that passing would be to put that on the bond with Haderlein. If they could have just done Haderlein, it would have passed, our taxes would have not increased that much, we'd get the improvements we NEEDED.
I also feel that it would be different if Girard was booming and growing and busting out the doors of the school. Right now, that is not the issue at all.
I still love my town and I still love my alma mater. I am proud to have graduated from Girard High School. It has long been known (and still is, with or without the bond) as one of the best school districts in this area.
Sure I could have sacrificed and afforded the higher taxes had I supported the ENTIRE bond but on a personal level I did not. I am sorry it did not pass for Haderlein's sake, but that was a chance that the administrators had to take when the put it all together on the ballot. I am proud to be a member of this community and hope that I am not banished for the way that I felt. I know and love many of the people that were STRONGLY in favor of the issue. I would have been ok with either outcome. I obviously didn't vote for Rock Abama and he is now the president and life goes on and we deal with it, which would have definately been the case in this issue.
I just don't want our town to be divided. I think if those who designed the bond would have really listened to the people and HEARD that they did support the education additions but not the athletic ones, then at least we would be celebrating some sort of victory tonight.
(Ok and dont kill me for bashing athletics b/c i do know it is a VERY important part of many students lives. I enjoy attending the games and love watching our kids play. I just think that we have 2 gyms and a recently remodeled weight room now, do we really need another gym and racquetball courts?)
Anyway, I still love my town, I still love being a Trojan, I still have faith in our teachers, school board and staff. I STILL want to be a part of this community, I think we just have to work together and compromise.

Happy Birthday, Sugar!
Dear Avery,
I cannot believe how the past two years have passed before my eyes. You have grown from a tiny 6 lb 2 ounce, helpless baby into a beautiful, smart, hard-headed, impatient, independent little lady. I love you more than you will ever know. I used to think that there was nothing better than just holding you and looking into your sweet face. While I still treasure those times, I think about how now there is nothing better than when you put your arm around me when we're cuddling and start patting me on the back and press your sweet cheeks against mine. You are so sweet and I thank God every day that He chose me to be your Mommy. I look forward to all of the fun times (and also trying) we have ahead of us. I know that, with God's help, we will get through anything that comes our way. You might not realize how much I love you in the upcoming days as we learn to stop the thumb sucking and as you learn to use the potty, but I do. It would be pretty easy to give in to you every single time and let you rule our house, but I'm just looking out for you Avery girl. I want you to grow and learn and hopefully be a sweet little girl and not the spoiled rotten brat that your mommy was. :)
Thank you for the joy, for the love, for the smiles and for the hugs that you bring to my life every day!
Happy Birthday Avery! I love you so much!
Mommy

A day late and a dollar (or two) short
Where does my time go? I feel like life is passing before me at a high rate of speed.
Anyway, here are a few pictures from our trip. I should be getting the ones that Shaw took sent to me in a few weeks so I will scan those in and post them - especially the ones of Avery meeting Dora and JoeDel meeting Kathy Ireland (puke, gag, I got so sick of hearing about how beautiful she was)
I had the joy of keeping my best friend Audrey's two little ones on Saturday. Tres is just a few months younger than Avery and Madeline is 2 months old. They were so fun! Avery and Tres are the exact same size and play together so well (well most of the time anyway) and it was so fun to have a little bitty baby in the house again! Kudos to Audrey who has both of them everyday - two kids under 2 is a lot of work! I will post some pics of our weekend adventure as soon as I get them downloaded, but for now here's MICKEY!

What a day!
Last Sunday, JoeDel and I embarked on a pretty exciting journey - we took our little princess to Disney World in celebration of her 2nd birthday coming up a week from today.
I had been told not to get too excited b/c she would probably be too young to enjoy Disney at this age, so I didn't get my hopes set too high. We had an amazing time though - just us! Avery's been on quite a few fun adventures in her 2 short years, but this trip will always be so special in my book because it was just Mommy, Daddy and Avery.
We arrived at the Magic Kingdom about 20 minutes before it opened and we were able to catch the opening show. That really got the day off to a great start. I tried to catch Avery's reaction to seeing Mickey, lets see if this will work...
<
I'm working on the pictures - I will post them later.
The highlight for the trip for JoeDel was meeting Kathy Ireland, but thats a whole other post...

Contests are fun
You may have heard that my old friends Gary, Jay and JoeDon are hosting a contest to let their fans design their new cd front. Here's my submission. I wish I had more time to be creative, but my mind is in another place right now. So, this is the "sorry i dont have more time to spend on this but I want to enter just to say I did" entry. :)

FINALLY FRIDAY!
Well the boomer sooners lost last night. Not good in our house. We actually fell asleep before the end of the game though so didn't know they'd lost until this morning! My 71 year old mother, however, watched the whole game and then the after show and now she is in love with Tim Tebow. She thinks he is the most amazing thing since sliced bread and doesn't understand how we could have been rooting for Oklahoma when Tim Tebow plays for Florida. Also, earlier in the night I told JoeDel that Florida would win b/c Tebow is a Christiand and there aren't any Christians in Oklahoma. It was a total joke, of course, but he got all fired up. Oh well, looks like I was right. I am sad though, I love the sooners but since i'm headed to florida real soon then its ok that they won.
We're off soon on our little adventure! M-I-C-K-E-Y .... M-O-U-S-E!!!!!!!!

Sorry to break it to you, Chris Klaassen...
I've heard him say time and time again that Carl Edwards is gay because the only lady you see him with his his Mom....I really like Carl Edwards, so I have tried defending him but now I know I was right all along! Turns out, he just really loves and respects his Momma. Good ole Family Values!
Check it out, Carl and Dr. Kate Downey (who practices medicine in Columbia, MO by the way) were married just a few days ago. I guess he figured he'd never rank with Dale Jr. for Nascars most eligible bachelor so he might as well just tie the knot.
Can you tell NASCAR fever is back in the air?!!!!
